Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive - CSRD

  • Applies initially to large companies with more than 500 employees or their parent company.
  • Must include what is necessary to understand the company's impact on sustainability issues, and information necessary to understand how sustainability issues affect the company's development:
    • Business model and strategies
    • Objectives related to sustainability issues
    • Key risks related to sustainability issues
    • Indicators relevant to the above information
  • To be reported in accordance with ESRS, European sustainability reporting standards broken down by Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG)
  • Delivered in a European electronic reporting format (ESEF) via European Single Access Point (ESAP)

Overview of the most important features in CSRD Orchestrator:

ENVIRONMENT DATA

CSRD Orchestrator enables the collection of data from external sources to populate the climate and environment sections of the CSRD reporting - the "E" (Environment) requirements of the ESG reporting.

SOCIAL DATA

CSRD Orchestrator also includes areas for the company's social engagement, both internally and externally. These are the "S" requirements in ESG reporting.

OWNERSHIP GOVERNANCE

CSRD Orchestrator also allows you to report information on how the business is governed, including corporate policies and culture. These are the "G" requirements in ESG reporting.

Integrations

Many companies have systems that contain some of the data needed for reporting. CSRD Orchestrator can collect such data electronically.

Workflows

CSRD Orchestrator includes workflow features for reporting, so work gets done in the right order.

Data analysis

CSRD Orchestrator includes analysis functions for scope, risk evaluation, etc.

Briefly about CSRD

  • Primarily applicable to large enterprises with more than 500 employees or their parent company.
  • Must include what is necessary to understand the company's impact on sustainability issues, and information necessary to understand how sustainability issues affect the company's development:
    • Business model and strategies
    • Objectives related to sustainability issues
    • Main risks related to sustainability issues
    • Indicators relevant to the above information
  • To be reported in accordance with ESRS, European sustainability reporting standards broken down by Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG)
  • Delivered in a European electronic reporting format (ESEF) via European Single Access Point (ESAP)

When do you have to start reporting?

  • From the financial year 2024 (reporting in 2025), the new requirements will apply to public interest entities (banks, insurance undertakings and listed companies) with more than 500 employees, which also meet the conditions for being considered large companies under the Accounting Directive.
  • From the financial year 2025, the rules will apply to all large companies.
  • From the financial year 2026, the rules will also apply to small and medium-sized listed companies, but these will have simpler reporting requirements and simplified reporting standards.

Double materiality analysis

You should perform a double materiality analysis well in advance of the year in which you will start reporting in order to establish which indicators are relevant to your company.

A double materiality analysis should include actual conditions, opportunities and risks, for conditions that affect your company, but also how your company can affect sustainability conditions.
